Prof. Ernestina Menasalvas (F) is a Full Professor at the Department of Computer Systems Languages and Sw Engineering, Faculty of Computer Science of Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM). Her subject area is Data Mining. She studied Computer Science and she has a PhD in Computer Science. She is currently a member of MIDAS “Data Mining and data simulation group” at the Center of Biotechnology in UPM and databases and data mining professor at UPM. Her re-search activities are in various aspects of data mining project development and in the last few years her re-search has focused on data mining in the medical field. She has participated in different research and development projects related to data integration and mining on mobile devices. She has published three international books on web mining (edited by Springer in 2003, 2004 and 2009 respectively) and many international journals including Data and Knowledge Engineering Journal, Information Sciences, Expert Systems with applications, Journal of Medical Systems and International Journal of Intelligent Data Analysis.
Prof. Alejandro Rodríguez-González (M) is an Associate Professor at the Department of Computer Languages and Systems and Software Engineering at the Technical University of Madrid. His main research interests are Semantic Web, Artificial Intelligence and the Biomedical informatics field, with a particular interest in the creation of Medical Diagnosis Systems, medical knowledge representation, the extraction of knowledge from different sources (text, social media, etc.) and the analysis of social media impact on e-Health. He has a degree in Computer Science, a M.Sc. in Computer Science and technology in the specialty of Artificial Intelligence, a M.Sc. in Engineering Decision systems and a PhD in Computer Science. He has published several papers in international journals and edited various special issues in high quality journals such as the Journal of Medical Systems, the Journal of Biomedical Informatics, Computational and Mathematical Methods in Medicine or the International Journal of Software Engineering and Knowledge Engineering, among others. He also has participated in the organization of several workshops in top international conferences, including the International Semantic Web Conference and the Extended Semantic Web Conference. He has participated in several competitive projects in fields such as medical informatics, finances and social media among others with several roles in the analysis and development of decision support systems, prediction models and knowledge extraction techniques.
